Oxford native qualifies for Olympic pole vault final
PARIS (WLBT) – Saturday, Oxford native and former Ole Miss pole vaulter Sam Kendricks qualified for the Olympic pole vault final. Kendricks cleared 5.75 meters in the qualification round, which was tied for the top mark, and good enough to qualify for the finals on Aug. 5. The pole vault final will start at noon central time on Monday.

Ole Miss shuffles future schedules, moving nonconference opponent up to 2025
Ole Miss has made another adjustment to its future nonconference schedule. The Rebels have made a change to when they will play Sun Belt foe Georgia State. Ole Miss had been scheduled to host Georgia State on Nov. 21, 2026. FBSchedules.com discovered through a records request that an addendum to the original contract reveals the teams have agreed to reschedule the meeting on the gridiron to Aug. 30, 2025.

Aug 3, 2024- We’re hearing word tonight that a DeSoto Central baseball player has died in a traffic accident early Saturday morning in Olive Branch. Olive Branch police were called to the 4600 block of Terrace Stone Drive about 1:19 a.m. Saturday morning to a motor vehicle crash with injuries. Olive Branch police say the crash is currently under investigation.

ROAD CLOSED: Bomb Squad investigating apparent unexploded military artillery shell in Jackson County
JACKSON COUNTY, Miss. (WLOX) - The Biloxi Police Bomb Squad is in Jackson County attempting to remove what appears to be an unexploded military artillery shell. JCSD is asking people to avoid the area across from Lake Forest subdivision off Seaman Road. The road is closed in both directions as law enforcement waits for military personnel from Pensacola, Florida to arrive and remove the shell.
