ROCKFORD, Ill. (WTVO/WQRF) — A couple student-athletes at Auburn High School signed Letters of Intent Wednesday.

Football player Jasper Jenkins signed with Milford Academy in New York, a prep school. Shot Put thrower Patrick Dubose Jr., who also played football for Auburn, is headed to Southern Illinois University for track & field, but he might also try to walk-on there in football.

Both young men are grateful for the oppportunities that have come their way.

“I love it because I’ll be the first I’ll be a first person in my family to go to college,” said Dubsoe Jr., “so that means a lot to me already just trying to go to college.”

In Milford, Jenkins is joining a school that has an excellent reputation of developing football talent. “They sent LeShean McCoy and a lot of others to the NFL, so I’ve got a strong chance I’m going to go there and get a Division One offer.”
