Rockford man accused of punching victim, kicking his dog

ROCKFORD, Ill. (WTVO) — Police arrested Alberto Ortiz, 38, for allegedly punching a man and kicking a dog after arguing with him.

On July 16, at 8 p.m., authorities responded to 2700 Prial Avenue for two men fighting. A witness said she wanted to press charges because her grandson was present during the incident.

The woman also took a video and officials said it showed Ortiz kicking a brown dog and punching the owner.

The owner of the dog said he only wanted the suspect charged for kicking his dog, Carl. Both of them did not need medical attention.

Ortiz is being charged with cruelty to animals and disorderly conduct.
