    Multiple shootings in Freeport overnight, no injuries reported

    FREEPORT, Ill. (WTVO) — Freeport police officers heard multiple gunshots in the city early Sunday morning, but no arrests have been made and authorities are seeking the public’s help.

    According to police, an officer heard gunshots in the area of the 700 block of S. Liberty Avenue and the 800 block of S. Caroll Avenue around 1:58 a.m., but when they arrived at the location the suspects had fled the area. Evidence collected at the scene did show a firearm had been discharged, but no victims or property damage were reported.

    Then, at 3:17 a.m., gunshots were head in the unit block of W. Dexter Street. Again, no suspects were in the area when police arrived on the scene, but again, evidence showed there had been a shooting. Again, no victims or property damage were reported.

    The preceding night, a 17-year-old was shot in the area of Frank Street and Chicago Avenue, around 12:01 a.m. Saturday. The teen was treated for his injuries and released from a local hospital.

    Police are asking anyone with information on the shootings to call 815-235-8222 and leave a tip.
