ROCKFORD, Ill. (WTVO) — A convicted Rockford felon and gang member has been arrested on weapons charges after an arrest Tuesday night.

According to police, officers with the Specialized Community Oriented Police Enforcement (SCOPE) team attempted to stop a vehicle in the 1400 block of Camp Avenue around 7:35 p.m., but the suspects drove off.

Police said the vehicle “eventually came to a stop” in the 1600 block of Grace Street, less than a mile away, and both occupants got out and ran.

Authorities said Lucas Roster, 38, was chased down and caught after he fought with officers.

He faces charges of Unlawful Use of a Weapon by a Felon, Unlawful Use of a Weapon by a Gang Member, Aggravated Unlawful Use of a Weapon, Aggravated Fleeing, Aggravated Resisting Arrest, and various traffic offenses.

He was booked into the Winnebago County Jail.
