ROCKFORD, Ill. (WTVO) — Rockford Police arrested Christopher Kaminsky, 48, for aggravated unlawful use of a weapon.

On August 13, around 7 p.m., Loves Park officers responded to a call claiming Kaminsky was at a business with a loaded firearm and pulled it out on a mechanic. Later, officials were informed the firearm was not pulled on anyone but the caller was concerned he was going to hurt himself or others.

Authorities said they found the suspect at his residence and took him into custody. He told officials he was moving and was in the process of moving the firearm from the shop back to the residence.

Officers searched the vehicle and found a handgun on the passenger seat floorboard where he told them it was earlier. Police read him his Miranda Rights and Kaminsky told police the weapon was a family heirloom that had no bullets in the magazine or chamber.

Kaminsky is being charged with possession of a firearm with a revoked FOID and aggravated unlawful use of a weapon.
