JANESVILLE, Wis. (WTVO) — Janesville Fire is investigating the cause of a fire that took place at the former Big Ed’s Sew and Vac.

On August 17, around 1:15 a.m., Janesville Police discovered a fire in the rear of the building and coordinated an evacuation of the ten residents.

The fire damaged the rear of the structure and there was smoke damage throughout the remainder of the building, JFD said.

10 residents were displaced due to the smoke damage but were able to stay with friends and family in the area.

Two firefighters were treated and released for heat exhaustion.

The fire caused an estimated $150,000 in damages.
