MACHESNEY PARK, Ill. (WTVO) — Two men have been arrested after one allegedly shot BBs at an eyewitness who saw him stealing from the Machesney Park Meijer grocery store on Wednesday. The other was charged after police found methamphetamine in the getaway car.

According to the Winnebago County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were called to a retail theft in progress at the store, located at 1770 West Lane Road, around 6:30 p.m.

An eyewitness told police that he had followed the suspect, identified as Angelo Bunkley, 25, out and saw Bunkley got into a black Lexus.

The witness then claimed that as the driver, David Saycocie, 37, was driving away, Bunkley pointed an Airsoft gun out the window and fired several pellets at him. The witness was not struck, police said.

Deputies found the car a short time later in the parking lot of Schnucks. Both men were arrested.

Bunkley has been charged with Retail Theft Over $300 and Aggravated Assault on Public Property.

Saycocie has been charged with Possession of Methamphetamine, Driving on a Suspended License, Obstructing Identification, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.
