ROSCOE, Ill. (WTVO) — Family members are giving an update in the search for Gilbert Wierschke, a 76-year-old Roscoe man who went missing on Monday, August 12th.

According to his daughter, police K9s were able to track him from his house to the railroad bridge at Gleasman Road.

Police used drones and dogs to search near his home and portions of the Hononegah Forest Preserve.

Wierschke was last seen on the corner of Morning Cloak Street and Marblewing Lane around 7:30 p.m. He is described as 5′ 6″ and 165 lbs, with gray hair and wearing a black mesh hat, black Cubs shirt, and blue jeans.

Wierschke suffers from Alzheimer’s. His wife, Cindy, said she remembers checking on him regularly the day he disappeared, but he still vanished.

The family is asking for the community to aid in searches, mentioning areas near or along Stone Bridge Trail.

Anyone with information on his whereabouts is asked to contact Roscoe Police at 815-282-2600.
