ROCKFORD, Ill. (WTVO) — Police arrested Tyree Anderson, 23, for his role in an armed robbery and the death of Marquell Reddic.

Authorities said officers were called to a residence in the 1000 block of Haskell around 6:11 p.m. on Wednesday, June 26th for reports of a shooting.

Two victims who were working on Reddic’s house were approached by Eric Townsend and asked where Reddic was, according to court documents. Timothy Chatman and Townsend left, came back with firearms and held them at gunpoint, reports said.

The victims told police they were ordered to call Reddic and tell him people were there to see him. When Reddic entered the house, he was told to get on the ground and was asked where the money and drugs were, according to court records.

Victims told authorities soon after Reddic was shot.

On June 27, police arrested and interviewed Anderson and Marizya Smith. Anderson and Smith both admitted to being involved in the incident, according to reports. Anderson told officials he was the driver.

Smith told authorities that “T” said he shot Reddic because he “rushed” him.

Anderson was booked on August 22nd and is being charged with two counts of armed robbery with a firearm.

Townsend was taken into custody on July 3rd and Chatman was arrested on July 16th.
