ROCKFORD, Ill. (WTVO) — Rockford Police arrested Zigmond Vanderwall, 34, for allegedly pushing a pregnant woman causing her stomach to hit a wall.

On August 23, around 1 a.m., police responded to Swedish American Hospital for a domestic battery call. The victim told officials Vanderwall came home around 10:30 p.m. intoxicated.

She was asleep until he pulled the blanket off of her and broke her phone by throwing it at the floor, according to court documents. The victim told authorities the suspect then tore her shirt off her and called her “disgusting.”

According to reports, he pushed her multiple times and she hit her stomach into a wall. The victim told police she was trying to put her shoes on to leave, but Vanderwall stomped on her foot multiple times.

The victim is 18 weeks pregnant and the suspect was aware of the pregnancy.

Vanderwall is being charged with aggravated battery of a pregnant woman and domestic battery causing bodily harm.
