BYRON, Ill. (WTVO) — A Sycamore man faces charges after a crash in Byron on Saturday.

According to the Ogle County Sheriff’s Office, Brandon Rees, 40, was driving a 2013 Lincoln MKX north on Illinois Route 2 while he was both drunk and using a cell phone, causing him to strike a guardrail, spinning the car across both lanes of traffic and coming to rest on the southbound shoulder.

Rees was charged with Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol and cited for the Use of an Electronic Communication Device on a Roadway and Improper Lane Usage.

He was taken to the Ogle County Jail and later released with a notice to appear at a future court date.
