ROCKFORD, Ill. (WTVO) — Winnebago County Sheriff’s deputies arrested Cordell Bass, 35, for intent to deliver cocaine among other charges.

On September 9, deputies apart of the Regional Crime Deterrence Unit said they were near 11th Street and Hamilton Avenue when they saw Bass driving a grey Jeep without wearing a seatbelt.

Bass stopped in a McDonald’s parking lot near 11th and Roosevelt Road around 8:51 p.m. Officials said the suspect was verbally aggressive and started recording when they initially spoke to him.

Authorities eventually received his license to find it was suspended, so they called to have the Jeep towed. Before the tow truck arrived, officials searched the vehicle and found a digital scale with cocaine residue on it, reports said.

Deputies then searched Bass and found crack cocaine along with a large amount of cash, according to court documents.

Bass is being charged with driving on a suspended license, delivery of cocaine, unauthorized window treatment and a seatbelt violation.
