ROCKFORD, Ill. (WTVO) — Home prices in the Rockford area hit another record high in July, with the sales price averaging around nearly $221,000 in Winnebago, Boone, and Ogle counties.

The Northwest Illinois Alliance of Realtors said that is more than $15,000 higher than one year ago.

A total of 374 homes were sold in July, after being on the market for an average 13 days.

Inventory in the area is growing, according to CEO Conor Brown, with more than 300 homes available for sale.

For the buyers… …competing with as many other buyers

Rockford is ranked as the fourth-hottest housing market in the nation.

people need homes to survive, they aren't tools for investment. we need to be bringing the prices down by having the city buy up all the houses as soon as they hit the market, get rid of the profit motive from investment firms making houses cheaper for average citizens
