ROCKFORD, Ill. (WTVO) — Police arrested Sidney Malone for allegedly strangling a woman unconscious while her son was in the room.

On September 9th, around 3:26 p.m., officers spoke to the woman at the RPD Headquarters about claims of domestic battery. The victim told authorities the incident started when the man asked to retrieve his belongings from a residence in the 600 block of Easton Parkway where she resides.

Malone arrived and started to yell at the woman while he was packing up his belongings, according to court records. The victim said she took her son and went into a bedroom because she felt uncomfortable.

The suspect followed her and continued to yell, according to court documents. The woman said he became more agitated when she turned the TV volume loud and he started to strangle her.

The victim said she went unconscious and woke up to see the suspect sitting on the bed. She told officials she went to call 911 and Malone left the scene.
