ROCKFORD, Ill. (WTVO) — The Winnebago County Sheriff’s Office arrested Michael King, 33, for allegedly possessing a firearm.

On September 11, around 8:24 p.m., deputies responded to the 2900 block of Searles Avenue for a domestic call. King told police he wanted a woman removed from his residence.

The woman told police the incident started when they began arguing. He then got her on the ground and threatened to batter her, according to the woman.

She also told authorities King had a firearm in his possession. Officials searched King’s SUV and found a handgun along with ammunition, according to court records.

King told police the firearm was not his and the woman had set him up.

King is charged with two counts of felon possession of a firearm and possession of a firearm without a FOID card.
