ROCKFORD, Ill. (WTVO) — Winnebago County Board member Jamie Salgado has been sentenced on a lesser charge after being arrested for driving under the influence last year.

Salgado was convicted this month for Reckless Driving and sentenced to 50 hours of public service work and 24 months of probation.

According to the Winnebago County State’s Attorney’s Office, a Winnebago County Sheriff’s Deputy found Salgado’s vehicle in a field at the corner of Bauer Parkway and N. Main Street over the Memorial Day weekend in 2023.

Saldago’s car had damage to the front end, authorities said.

He was initially charged with Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol and Improper Traffic Lane Usage.

Salgado has a prior conviction of Reckless Driving in 2016.

Salgado represents the county’s 12th District.
