Emma Pierson leads historic day for Belvidere at the NIC-10 Tournament

ROCKTON, Ill. (WTVO/WQRF) — Thursday was a beautiful day on the golf course for the NIC-10 Girls’ Tournament at Macktown. It was even more beautiful in the eyes of the Belvidere Co-op team. That’s because Belvidere won the team championship. It’s the first time a Belvidere school has won the team championship.

Senior golfer Emma Pierson led the way for Belvidere by shooting the top score of the day, a 77. That made her the first individual conference champion in Belvidere history for the girls. Belvidere’s second golfer was Pierson’s younger sister Ella. She finished in fifth place individually shooting an 85. She is only a freshman.

Boylan senior Ava Kalt had the second best score of the day a 79. That helped the Lady Titans take second place in the team standings.
