(WTVO) — Some libraries in the Stateline are getting an upgrade thanks to $22 million in grant funding awarded by Illinois Secretary of State Alexi Giannoulias.

Six million dollars will be put toward literacy programs throughout the state and $28,000 will go to Northern Illinois Radio Information Services in DeKalb.

Sauk Valley Community College is set to receive $68,000, while Highland Community College will be receiving $81,000.

The YWCA in Rockford is also being awarded $85,000.

The grants will be used to fund online catalogs, day-to-day operations and the promotion of reading and writing skills.
