Belvidere teen accused of attempted armed robbery

BELVIDERE, Ill. (WTVO) — Belvidere Police arrested a 15-year-old boy for allegedly attempting an armed robbery.

On September 25, around 7:25 a.m., officials were called to the Citgo Gas Station located at 717 North State Street for a report of a robbery.

The teen allegedly displayed a large knife, threatened the cashier and demanded merchandise. The juvenile was unable to steal any products and fled on East Jackson Street, according to authorities.

Several citizens aided in the investigation and helped find the suspect.

The juvenile is being charged with attempted armed robbery and he was processed at the Belvidere Police Department on September 27.
