    FEMA to open disaster recovery center in Rockford

    ROCKFORD, Ill. (WTVO) — The Federal Emergency Management Agency is opening a Recovery Center in Rockford for residents affected by severe storms, tornadoes, and flooding that happened in July.

    Specialists from FEMA, the State of Illinois, and the U.S. Small Business Administration will be at the center, located within Forest City Church, at 1280 S. Alpine Road. Hours are Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. – 7 p.m. and from 8 a.m. – 2 p.m. on Saturdays.

    The center will open to the public on Thursday, October 3rd.

    Residents should have the following information ready when applying with FEMA:

    • A current phone number where you can be contacted,
    • Your address at the time of the disaster and the address where you are now staying,
    • Your social security number (or the social security number of a minor child in your household, if you`re applying on their behalf),
    • A general list of damage and losses,
    • Banking information if you choose direct deposit, and
    • If insured, the policy number or the agent and/or the company name.

    To apply for assistance, visit disasterassistance.gov , download the FEMA app , or call the FEMA Helpline at 800-621-3362.
