ROCKFORD, Ill. (WTVO) — Go Rockford announced the second round of relief grants for local restaurants on Tuesday.

A total of $195,000 is being distributed to 30 restaurants. Individual grants ranged from $100 up to $30,000.

Go Rockford said the goal is to relieve financial pressure from unemployment taxes dating back to the pandemic.

“Supporting our community and our local businesses, especially those that were hit hardest during the pandemic, has been one of my top priorities,” said Illinois State Representative Maurice West, who secured the state-funded grants for Rockford and Winnebago County restaurants. “I believe these continued grants will play a vital role in sustaining our local economy, keeping workers employed, and preserving the unique dining experiences the Rockford region has to offer.”

The first round of grants came in May and applications for a third round will open in January next year.
