ROCKFORD, Ill. (WTVO) — Terrance Preshon, 18, was denied pre-trial release today in court after being allegedly involved in an armed robbery that turned into a car-to-car shooting.

According to Rockford Police, three teen suspects in a stolen 2017 Hyundai Tuscon arranged to meet with a teen victim in the 6000 block of Academy Trail to purchase vaping cartridges.

During the meetup, the suspects, including Preshon, allegedly robbed the victim at gunpoint and pushed him out of the car, running over and breaking his ankle as they drove away, the arrest report said.

Police have also arrested Chauncy Bueno, 26, in connection with the shooting on Tuesday.

Bueno, who was in the house, got into the passenger seat of a white Dodge Journey with another man driving, and the pair pursued the Hyundai with the intention “to obtain a license plate … so they could give the information to police,” Bueno later told authorities.

Bueno claimed the suspects saw him following and pointed guns in his direction, at which point he opened fire with his own weapon.

The Hyundai crashed into a third, unrelated vehicle in the intersection, and Preshon and the two other juvenile suspects got out and ran.

Police were able to apprehend all three and recovered two loaded handguns.

Police later located the Dodge Journey in the 6000 block of Park Ridge Terrace. Police obtained a search warrant for the residence and arrested Lance Woods, 46, after officers reportedly found cocaine, cash, a money-counting machine, and drug paraphernalia inside.

A search warrant was ordered for the home on Academy Trail, and when detectives went inside they found Bueno and the teen victim of the robbery within. A handgun was found hidden in a dining room floor vent.

The Winnebago County State’s Attorney’s Office has charged Preshon with Armed Robbery, Aggravated Battery with Great Bodily Harm, Aggravated Discharge of a Weapon, Aggravated Unlawful Use of a Weapon, No Valid Firearm Owners Identification, Possession of a Stolen Auto, Resisting Arrest, and a warrant for Unlawful Use of a Weapon that was issued on April 13th, 2024.

A 16-year-old male has been charged with Armed Robbery, Aggravated Unlawful Use of a Weapon, No Valid FOID, Possession of a Stolen Auto, and Resisting Arrest.

A 17-year-old male has been charged with Armed Robbery, Possession of a Stolen Auto, and Possession of Burglary Tools.

Bueno was charged with Aggravated Battery with a Firearm, Felon in Possession of a Weapon, and Aggravated Discharge of a Firearm. He had a prior conviction for Possession of a Controlled Substance in 2022.
