Police: Illinois bicyclist stabs driver after road rage argument

DES PLAINES, Ill. (WTVO) — A driver and bicyclist got into a heated argument before the bicyclist attacked the driver with a knife, according to authorities.

On October 11, around 12:15 p.m., officials responded to the 1500 block of Miner Street to a Skokie man suffering stab wounds to his left arm. The 53-year-old was cared for and taken to a local hospital by Des Plaines Fire Department EMTs.

Officials told CBS Chicago the victim was driving on Miner Street when the bicyclist was riding the wrong way down the road, causing the two to exchange words.

Eventually, the man on the bike was at the driver’s side window and started to punch the driver, according to authorities.

The bicyclist proceeded to stab the driver multiple times while the driver attempted to defend himself, officers said. Police said the suspect fled the scene.

The suspect is described as a 30 to 40-year-old man wearing a tank top, khaki shorts and a backpack.
