    Stillman Valley basketball standout Taylor Davidson commits to Ashland University

    STILLMAN VALLEY, Ill. (WTVO/WQRF) — One of the Rockford area’s top high school basketball players plans to suit up for one of the top NCAA Division II women’s programs in the nation. Stillman Valley’s Taylor Davidson has made a verbal commitment to Ashland University in Ashland, Ohio.

    Davidson has announced her choice on “X”. Ashland University has won three national championships in the last 11 years (2013, 2017, 2023). Ashland head coach Kari Pickens has the best winning percentage of any NCAA coach in history at .911. Her career record at Ashland is 173-17.

    Last season, Ashland went 31-2 and won the Great Midwest Athletic Conference with a 20-0 conference mark.

    Davidson was named first team All-State for class 2A last season as a junior at Stillman Valley. She averaged 24.6 points per game along with 4.1 assists and 3.8 steals. She set school records for points in a game (41) and for points in a season (862). Davidson also became the school’s all-time leading scorer (1,671 points) with one full season still ahead of her.
