Police arrest suspect in Monday shooting near Fairview Blvd

ROCKFORD, Ill. (WTVO) — Rockford Police have announced the arrest of Marcellus Lee, 23, a suspected shooter in a car-to-car gun battle that took place near Fairview Blvd on Monday.

According to authorities, two vehicles were shooting in the area, and a nearby home was struck by gunfire.

Police were on the scene around noon, and evidence markers could be seen scattered across the roadway, at the intersection south of Rural Street.

A witness said occupants of a gray Chrysler 300 began shooting from the vehicle before driving south toward E. State Street.

One of the vehicles involved was later seen in the 3300 block of Greenwood.

Lee, one of the occupants, was taken into custody and two handguns were recovered during the investigation,.

Authorities have charged Lee with 2 counts of Aggravated Discharge of a Firearm, 2 counts of Reckless Discharge of a Firearm, Criminal Damage to Property, and Aggravated Unlawful Use of Weapons.

Authorities have not announced any other arrests.
