LOVES PARK, Ill. (WTVO) — Capri Restaurant, which relocated to Loves Park after the longtime Rockford location was destroyed in a fire, fielded over 59,000 calls on its opening day, according to the City.

“They received a staggering 59,000 calls, which shows just how excited our community is to have them back! The phone lines were definitely overwhelmed, and the Capri staff appreciated your patience as they worked as quickly as possible to serve as many guests as they could. A big thank you for your support—let’s keep the momentum going as more businesses open in our city!” the City of Loves Park wrote on Facebook on Friday.

Capri opened on Saturday, September 28th, at 6480 East Riverside Boulevard in Loves Park.

Brothers Vito and Domenic Grisanzio opened Capri in 1963 in Rockford. A fire broke out at the original building, at 313 E. State Street, on October 27th, 2022, causing about $300,000 in damages.
