    Police: Man flees with 1 pound of cannabis in Corvette, crashes into squad car

    SOUTH BELOIT, Ill. (WTVO) — South Beloit Police arrested Joseph Gabriel-Ocana-White, 22, for allegedly delivering cannabis and crashing into a squad car.

    On October 17, around 8:40 p.m., police were notified by an off-duty officer that a white Chevrolet Corvette that fled from them before was in the area of South 8th Street. Officials found the vehicle backing into a garage in the 500 block of Shirland Avenue.

    When Gabriel-Ocana-White saw authorities he attempted to maneuver around one squad car, shifted into reverse, accelerated into another patrol vehicle and started to flee the scene on foot, according to court records.

    Police eventually took the suspect into custody along with his passenger Jatai Edgell.

    While searching the Corvette, Officials found a loaded handgun and over one pound of cannabis divided into several plastic bags. Authorities were also able to determine the Corvette was stolen from further investigation.

    Edgell is charged with criminal trespassing to vehicles and resisting an officer.

    Gabriel-Ocana-White is charged with aggravated fleeing causing property damage, possession of a stolen vehicle, aggravated battery of an officer, criminal damage to government property, felon possession of a firearm, armed violence and manufacturing and delivering cannabis.
