DIXON, Ill. (WTVO/WQRF) — This will go down as one of the greatest games of all-time in the Big Northern Conference. The Byron Tigers edged the Dixon Dukes Friday night 29-28 in a tension-filled final minute.

The Tigers trailed 28-21 as the final seconds were ticking off the clock, but with 16.2 seconds to play, sophomore quarterback Andrew Talbert scored on a four-yard run. Now down by one, Byron decided to go for two and the win showing the same confidence and aggressiveness that they showed a few years ago in the state semifinals in a comeback win at IC Catholic.

And why not go for two when you have Caden Considine at fullback? The junior has missed a lot of time this season with a hamstring issue. In this game though he had scored an earlier touchdown. He got the ball again for the conversion attempt. His offensive line had just enough surge against a tough Dixon defensive push, and Considine just surged across the goal line for the winning points.

Byron trailed much of the game including 14-0 in the first half and 14-7 at halftime.

Both teams entered the game with 7-0 records having blown out each of their opponents. Byron extended its regular season winning streak to 25 games in a row and it’s BNC winning streak to 24 games in a row. Byron will close out the regular season next Friday night by hosting Stillman Valley. Dixon will play at North Boone.
