    Rockford Fire fights ‘heavy’ residential blaze

    ROCKFORD, Ill. (WTVO) — Firefighters fought a “heavy” fire at a house in the Rockford area on Saturday.

    Around 2:42 p.m., Rockford Fire responded to the 1800 block of Reed Avenue for a residential fire.

    RFD said the house was abandoned and the fire started in the attached garage. Firefighters called for an additional fire truck when the fire started to spread to other structures.

    The first units on the scene described the blaze as a heavy fire. The cause of the blaze is under investigation.
