Constables arrest suspects for possession of prohibited weapon
HOUSTON, Texas — Deputies with Constable Mark Herman's Office arrested two men after a traffic stop revealed they were in possession of altered firearms. On July 7, 2024, deputies conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle in the 19200 block of Atascocita Road. The occupants were identified as Xavier Gaines and Dontavius Mathes. Further investigation revealed they were in possession of two Glock handguns that had been altered with a switch enabling the weapons to be fully automatic. The Occupational Safety and Health Administration recommends scheduling frequent rest breaks in shaded or air-conditioned environments to reduce the risk during outdoor work.Symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat stroke should be taken seriously, and anyone overcome by heat should be moved to a cool, shaded location. "Heat stroke is an emergency! Call 911," the advisory emphasized.

OLDHAM COUNTY, Texas — The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) seized more than 242 pounds of suspected cocaine after a Texas Highway Patrol Trooper stopped a vehicle in Oldham County.On Saturday, July 13, at approximately 1:49 p.m., a DPS Trooper stopped a 2020 Kia Sportage traveling east on I-40 near Vega for a traffic violation. During the stop, the Trooper discovered three large duffel bags containing 100 plastic-wrapped bricks of cocaine in the rear cargo area, according to a press release from the DPS.DPS Criminal Investigation Division (CID) Special Agents and Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) Special Agents were contacted and assisted with the investigation. DEA Special Agents adopted the case.The driver, 29-year-old Ezequiel Canela-Cabrera, of Kissimmee, Florida, was arrested and booked into the Randall County Jail for felony possession of a controlled substance. K9 Onyx passes away following medical emergency
GAINESVILLE, Texas — The Cooke County Sheriff's Office has announced the passing of K9 Onyx, who suffered a medical emergency on July 12, 2024, while preparing for duty with her partner, Deputy Ryan Thacker.K9 Onyx, a full-blood Dutch Shepherd, was transported to a Collin County veterinary clinic for emergency surgery but sadly passed away during the procedure.
