Teenager arrested for murder and evidence tampering in Brownsville
BROWNSVILLE, Texas — A 17-year-old has been arrested in connection with a fatal shooting during a narcotics deal, according to the Cameron County Sheriff's Office. On Saturday, August 10, 2024, deputies responded to a call at Katarina Ave. and Florencia Ave. in Brownsville, Texas, where a male subject had been shot multiple times. The 911 caller informed deputies that the victim had been shot in the neck. Emergency Medical Services attempted to provide medical attention, but the victim did not survive.
Officer-involved shooting at Corpus Christi dance hall leaves suspect dead
CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — An officer-involved shooting at The Ranch Dance Hall early Sunday morning resulted in the death of an 18-year-old male suspect. Officers were dispatched to the dance hall at 4563 Everhart Road at 1:33 a.m. on August 11, 2024, following reports of an assault in progress. Upon arrival, officers observed a male subject being assaulted and lying motionless on the ground. The suspect, armed with a handgun, was seen over the victim. One officer engaged the suspect, firing his duty weapon and striking him. The suspect was transported to a local hospital where he later succumbed to his injuries. The assault victim was also taken to a hospital for treatment.
Stolen Corvette leads police on 16-mile chase outside of Houston
HUMBLE, Texas — Early this morning, night shift officers were alerted via a license plate reader of a stolen license plate on a Corvette entering the city. Officers located the vehicle in the southbound main lanes of US Hwy 59 near Will Clayton Pkwy and attempted to conduct a stop. The driver refused, initiating a pursuit that spanned approximately 16 miles. The suspect then bailed out of the vehicle and began to evade on foot. A Texas DPS Airship assisting with the pursuit illuminated the suspect with their spotlight, causing him to surrender.
Officer-involved shooting in Bryan County under investigation
HENDRIX, Oklahoma — The Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation (OSBI) is investigating an officer-involved shooting that occurred in Bryan County on August 11, 2024. Around 10:00 p.m., Bryan County deputies responded to a domestic disturbance call near Highway 78 and Camino Drive in Hendrix. Upon arrival, deputies encountered 48-year-old Wesley Buford. According to OSBI special agents, Buford rushed towards the deputies while armed, leading to the shooting.
Smith County to break ground on new courthouse

Man arrested for stabbing over defective electronics
HOUSTON, Texas — A man has been arrested after allegedly stabbing another man during an altercation over defective electronics. On August 9, 2024, deputies from Constable Mark Herman's Office responded to an in-progress call in the 12700 block of Laurel Meadow Way, where a male victim was reported to have been stabbed. Upon arrival, deputies detained the man, identified as Juan Lugo. The victim was transported to a local hospital.
Johnson County deputy shot during vehicle pursuit
MANSFIELD, Texas — A Johnson County deputy was shot while assisting in a vehicle pursuit that ended near Mansfield on August 11, 2024. At approximately 9:30 PM, the Johnson County Sheriff's Office assisted Tarrant County deputies in pursuing a vehicle into Johnson County. The vehicle's occupants exited and fled into a nearby house. Deputies entered the residence to arrest the driver, during which Johnson County Deputy Austin Reed was shot in the hip while attempting to subdue a resisting suspect, according to the Johnson County Sheriff's Office.

HOUSTON, Texas - A driver was arrested for deadly conduct after striking a first responder and fleeing the scene of a major crash, authorities said.On August 10, 2024, deputies from Constable Mark Herman's Office responded to a major crash in the 16200 block of Stuebner Airline Drive. While on scene, Kendrick Preston, who became impatient with the road closure, disregarded the deputies and drove through the crash site, striking a first responder before fleeing, according to the Harris County Constable Precinct 4.Deputies pursued and detained Preston. "Kendrick Preston was arrested and booked into the Harris County Jail, charged with Deadly Conduct. His bond was set at $100.00 out of County Court 6," stated Constable Mark Herman.

Fort Worth officer dies in line of duty after being struck by vehicle

MIDLAND, Texas — Midland Police are searching for two suspects allegedly involved in a stabbing that took place early Sunday morning in south Midland. MPD reported that at 3:16 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 11, 2024, officers responded to a stabbing at the Executive Inn, 1000 S. Midkiff Road. “The caller, also the victim, stated he had been stabbed in his neck and the actors had left the scene,” MPD reported. “Officers arrived on scene and conducted first aid. EMS arrived on scene and transported the victim to (Midland Memorial Hospital).”
Dallas police seek publics help in locating missing 68-year-old man
DALLAS, Texas — The Dallas Police Department is asking for the public’s help in locating Mr. Anthony Manna. Mr. Manna is described as a 68-year-old, brown-eyed, salt and pepper-haired, white man who stands at about 5’8” tall and weighs approximately 190 lbs. He was last seen on August 11, 2024, at about 2:30 p.m., on foot in the 2600 block of Kings Road. He was wearing a black shirt with a motorcycle on the front of it and a pair of gray sweatpants.
