Houston police seek suspect in fatal hit-and-run
HOUSTON, Texas — Houston police are investigating the death of a man found at 8901 Veterans Memorial Drive early this morning. The identity of the 33-year-old victim is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences. According to a press release from the Houston Police Department (HPD), officers responded to a call about a person down in a parking lot at the address and found an unresponsive male with severe trauma. Houston Fire Department paramedics pronounced the man deceased at the scene.
Dallas man kills woman, then himself in apparent murder-suicide
DALLAS, Texas — A man and woman were found dead in a Dallas apartment in what authorities are calling an apparent murder-suicide. On July 15, 2024, at approximately 3:10 p.m., Dallas Fire and Rescue responded to a call for a health and welfare check in the 3400 block of Mahanna Street. The preliminary investigation determined that DFR forced entry into the apartment and found 26-year-old Solmaira Vazquez Castillo in the bathroom with stab wounds. DFR also found 38-year-old Hector Tovar Marquez unresponsive in a bedroom closet. Both were pronounced dead at the scene. Further investigation determined that Tovar Marquez had stabbed Vazquez Castillo before committing suicide. The victim and suspect were known to one another. The investigation is ongoing and is documented under case numbers 108667-2024 and 108883-2024, according to the Dallas Fire and Rescue.

Texas adds two fugitives to most wanted list, offers $5,000 reward
AUSTIN, Texas — The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) has added two fugitives with ties to Central Texas to the Texas 10 Most Wanted Criminal Illegal Immigrants List. Fabian Martinez Toribio, a 25-year-old criminal illegal immigrant from Mexico, has been wanted by the Austin Police Department since January 2024 for aggravated sexual assault of a child. Additionally, in February 2024, a warrant was issued out of Travis County for his arrest for possession of a controlled substance. Martinez Toribio was previously arrested and convicted of entry without inspection in April 2018 and was subsequently removed from the United States. In October 2023, he was arrested by the Manor Police Department for resisting arrest/search and possession of a controlled substance, then bonded out of jail. Martinez Toribio is 5 feet 3 inches tall, weighs about 150 pounds, and has ties to Travis County, including the cities of Austin and Pflugerville.

BOYD, Texas — A break-in at Boyd Schools led to the arrest of a thief and a alleged local drug dealer on July 10, according to the Boyd Police Department.An alert patrol officer spotted a suspicious individual early in the morning, recognizing him from video evidence of the school burglary the night before. The suspect, who was riding the same bicycle and wearing the same shoes as seen in the footage, was apprehended. The officer also discovered the suspect had an outstanding warrant.During a search of the suspect's hideout, Boyd police recovered most of the stolen school property and uncovered a stash of narcotics belonging to a suspected local drug dealer. "This is what we call a two-for-one special," stated the Boyd Police Department. "Not only did our officers recover the stolen school property, but they also managed to clean up a bit of Boyd's illicit pharmaceutical market."Both the thief and the drug dealer have been detained at Wise County Jail.
