South African black-footed penguins settle into new exhibit at Cameron Park Zoo
WACO, Texas — Cameron Park Zoo's South African black-footed penguins are thriving in their new home at the Penguin Shores Exhibit. The zoo announced that the penguins are settling in wonderfully and encouraged visitors to mark their calendars for the exhibit's grand opening on August 8. More details about the event will be released soon, according to the City of Waco Public Information Office.

Suspect arrested for dumping used oil into storm drain
HOUSTON, Texas - A man has been arrested after authorities say he poured used oil into a storm drain in a residential area.On July 19, 2024, a sergeant from Harris County Constable Precinct 4 observed oil on the ground leading to a storm drain in the 23900 block of Spring Briar Lane. Further investigation revealed that Ramiro Valdez had poured the used oil down the drain, according to a statement from Constable Mark Herman's office."Ramiro Valdez was arrested and booked into the Harris County Jail, charged with Water Pollution Unauthorized Discharge. His bond was set at $2,500.00 out of the 248th District Court," stated the Constable's office.
