Pedestrian killed in early morning crash in Houston
HOUSTON, Texas — Houston police are investigating a fatal crash at 63 East Crosstimbers Street that occurred around 12:50 a.m. today. The identity of the deceased male is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences. According to the Houston Police Department (HPD) Vehicular Crimes Division, Sergeant D. Griffiths and Officer D. Hoang reported that the male pedestrian was lying down in a moving lane of traffic when he was struck by a gray Nissan Versa traveling westbound. Paramedics were called and pronounced the male deceased at the scene.
Elgin man arrested for murder after highway shooting
ELGIN, Texas — A man was arrested following a fatal shooting on E US Hwy 290, police say. At 7:08 p.m. on July 16, 2024, Elgin Police Department officers responded to a 9-1-1 call reporting a disturbance and shots fired near County Line Road. Officers discovered Joseph Stanczyk, deceased from an apparent gunshot wound. Fabian Salas was subsequently arrested and charged with murder, according to the Elgin Police Department. Salas was booked into the Travis County Jail, and bond has not yet been set.

Couple Found Dead in Abilene in Apparent Murder-Suicide
ABILENE, Texas — A man and woman were found dead with gunshot wounds in the front yard of a home early Wednesday morning, police say. Officers responded to a call just before 2 a.m. on July 17, 2024, at a residence in the 5200 block of South 7th Street, according to a press release from the Abilene Police Department. Upon arrival, they discovered 47-year-old Narsiso Alamilla and 49-year-old Baby Costancio, both suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. The two were in a dating relationship.
