Houston police officer shot, suspect in custody
HOUSTON, Texas — A suspect has been arrested in connection with the shooting of a Houston police officer at 6000 Hollister Street on Monday evening. Ricardo Lezama, a 39-year-old, is charged with two counts of aggravated assault on a public servant in the 230th State District Court. Officer F. Garcia, a 36-year-old assigned to the Northwest Patrol Division, suffered a gunshot wound to the leg and was transported to Memorial Hermann-Texas Medical Center in stable condition, according to the Houston Police Department (HPD).

The driver and passengers of the SUV were uninjured and are cooperating with the investigation, police said.This crash marks Austin's 41st fatal collision of 2024, resulting in 43 fatalities for the year. On the same date in 2023, the city had recorded 51 fatal crashes, resulting in 51 deaths.The investigation into the crash is ongoing, and the initial assessment may change as more information becomes available, according to the Austin Police Department.
Michigan mother and baby rescued near Texas border checkpoint
LAREDO, Texas — U.S. Border Patrol agents rescued a missing Michigan mother and her baby near the Interstate 35 checkpoint on July 6, 2024. The Webb County Sheriff's Office responded to the United States Border Patrol checkpoint on Interstate 35 regarding a woman and infant found on a ranch, according to a press release from the U.S. Border Patrol Laredo Sector. The woman, identified by a Michigan driver's license, stated she ran out of gas while traveling to South Padre Island. Border Patrol agents confirmed she was the mother and had been reported missing to the Wyoming Police Department on July 3, 2024.

LAREDO, Texas — U.S. Border Patrol agents rescued a missing Michigan mother and her baby near the Interstate 35 Checkpoint on July 6, 2024. The agents transported the pair to safety and requested medical services. Both the mother and child had been reported missing from Michigan earlier this month.
Dallas police investigate fatal shooting of unidentified woman
DALLAS, Texas — A woman was found fatally shot in a parking lot early Tuesday morning, according to Dallas police. On July 9, 2024, at approximately 2:45 a.m., Dallas Police responded to a shooting call in the 11500 block of Plano Road. The preliminary investigation determined that when officers arrived, they found an unidentified woman shot in a parking lot. Dallas Fire Rescue responded, and the woman died at the scene. The Dallas County Medical Examiner’s Office will help in identifying the woman. There is no suspect information at this time.
