A new face is joining the “pack” at the SPCA of East Texas (SPCA ETX). Last Monday, the nonprofit animal welfare group welcomed Emily Heglund as its new executive director. In her role, Heglund will be responsible for guiding the strategic direction and daily operations of SPCA ETX. Her focus will be on enhancing the organization’s rescue and adoption program, along with overseeing its SNIPPET Spay/Neuter Clinic, which provides discounted wellness services to community pets.
Waco police seek help identifying burglary suspect
WACO, Texas — Police are asking for the public's help in identifying a suspect involved in a business burglary. Detective C. On July 6, 2024, at approximately 5:43 PM, Deputy Haroun of the Harris County Precinct 8 Constable's Office initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle for failing to signal in the 18200 block of Gulf Freeway. Father fatally stabbed allegedly by son in New Braunfels
NEW BRAUNFELS, Texas — A 57-year-old man was fatally stabbed by his son in New Braunfels on Monday night, according to the Comal County Sheriff's Office. Deputies were dispatched to a residence in the 100 block of Dry Bear Creek at approximately 9:30 p.m. for reports of a stabbing. Upon arrival, they found William Tarnosky, 57, of New Braunfels, suffering from life-threatening stab wounds. Deputies immediately began life-saving measures, and paramedics from the Bulverde Spring Branch Fire Department continued medical treatment upon arrival. Tarnosky succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. His next of kin has been notified.

Houston police investigate fatal shooting at Lockwood Drive bus stop
HOUSTON, Texas - Houston police are investigating the fatal shooting of a man that occurred at 4712 Lockwood Drive around 4:25 p.m. on Monday. The identity of the victim is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences, according to a press release from the Houston Police Department (HPD). HPD Homicide Division Detectives A. Herrera and M. Providence reported that HPD patrol officers responded to a report of a shooting at the above address and located an unresponsive male with multiple gunshot wounds lying on the sidewalk next to a Metro bus stop. Responding Houston Fire Department paramedics pronounced him deceased at the scene. Further investigation determined the victim had been involved in an altercation with an unknown Black male suspect. During the altercation, the male suspect pulled out a gun and shot the victim several times before fleeing in an unknown direction, stated the source. Fatal crash on North Freeway under investigation by Houston police
HOUSTON, Texas - Houston police are investigating a fatal crash that occurred at 11300 North Freeway late Monday night. The incident took place around 11:30 p.m. when a white Dodge Ram pickup truck, traveling southbound on the North Freeway just south of the Beltway, struck a pedestrian walking on the main lanes of the freeway, according to a press release from the Houston Police Department. The pedestrian, a 51-year-old male, was pronounced dead at the scene by Houston Fire Department paramedics. His identity is pending notification to family members by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences. DALLAS, Texas - The Dallas Police Department continues to investigate the 2012 murder of 22-year-old Samuel Nanaeto. On September 23, 2012, Nanaeto and an unknown suspect were involved in a fight at a business in the 8500 block of Stemmons Freeway. The investigation determined Nanaeto left the scene and was involved in another fight in the 8800 block of N. Stemmons Freeway, where he was found shot to death.
