The deadly incident occurred on May 24 at the intersection of West Amarillo Boulevard and North Florida Street. According to the indictment filed on July 11, 2024, 20-year-old Abdurahman Garang Hussein struck Rocio Castejon's vehicle as she pulled onto Amarillo Boulevard.

MESQUITE, Texas — Nearly a decade after a brutal assault, Mesquite Police have arrested a suspect in connection with a 2014 aggravated sexual assault case. On September 2, 2014, officers were dispatched to the 3500 block of Moon Drive, where a female victim was found unconscious and severely beaten. The victim, a disabled individual, had also been sexually assaulted, according to a press release from the Mesquite Police Department.

Authorities shoot, kill mountain lion in Texas community after public safety threatened
LAREDO, Texas — Authorities shot and killed a mountain lion in a residential area of Laredo after police say the animal threatened public safety.The Laredo Police Department confirmed visual identification of the mountain lion near the 100 block of Crest Lane. Residents in the area were advised to stay indoors and secure their pets until the Game Wardens could contain the animal. Law enforcement established a perimeter around the location to ensure public safety.The situation escalated when the mountain lion attempted to escape from a backyard into a neighboring property. Due to the animal's aggressive behavior and survival instincts, authorities say they were forced to neutralize it to prevent potential danger to the community. "We were hoping for a better outcome but were left with no choice due to the potential danger the surrounding neighborhood would have been exposed to if the feline escaped and encountered a person or domesticated animal in its path," stated the Laredo Police Department.No officers or community members were harmed during the incident. Game Wardens were present alongside Laredo PD at the time of the event. "Our primary mission is the safety and security of the community," emphasized the department.
