Deputies met with the victim, who directed them to the location of the offender, identified as Andrew Martinez, of El Paso, Texas.Upon contact, deputies discovered Martinez had an outstanding criminal warrant for Injury to a Child, Elderly Individual, or Disabled Individual, along with two additional traffic warrants. A stolen motorcycle was also found at the scene. The Anthony Police Department, the original investigating agency on the theft case, took over the scene.Martinez was processed and confined to the El Paso County Downtown Detention Facility under a $20,800 bond for the injury charge and the traffic warrants, according to the department.

HOUSTON, Texas - Houston police are asking for the public's help in locating two persons of interest sought for questioning in the fatal shooting of a man at 4760 Sherwood Lane on June 25. The persons of interest are identified as 29-year-old Terryl Shawn Richard and 26-year-old Trishia Perrault. The victim has been identified as 31-year-old Derrick Dewayne Smith. HPD Homicide Division Detectives W. Huff and J. Nguyen reported that HPD patrol officers responded to a shooting at a motel at the above address and found an unresponsive man with gunshot wounds inside a vehicle. Officers provided medical assistance until Houston Fire Department paramedics arrived and transported the man to an area hospital where he was pronounced deceased. Further investigation identified Richard and Perrault as two persons of interest who may have information regarding this incident, according to the Houston Police Department. HARDEMAN COUNTY, Texas - The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) seized approximately 12 pounds of suspected fentanyl after a Texas Highway Patrol Trooper stopped a vehicle in Hardeman County.On Wednesday, July 24, 2024, at 9:07 a.m., a DPS Trooper stopped a 2015 Buick Verano traveling south on US 287 near Quanah for a traffic violation. During the stop, the Trooper discovered six plastic cellophane bags of fentanyl pills, according to DPS.DPS Special Agents were contacted and assisted with the investigation. The driver, 37-year-old Joaquin Salazar, of Phoenix, Arizona, was arrested and booked into the Hardeman County Jail for felony possession of a controlled substance.The drugs were reportedly being transported from Phoenix, Arizona, to the Dallas/Fort Worth area, stated the department.

Suspect charged in fatal shooting of woman in Houston
HOUSTON, Texas - Charges have been filed against a suspect arrested in the fatal shooting of a woman at 8830 Ledge Street about 4:45 p.m. on Wednesday. The suspect, 57-year-old Juan J. Mares-Chaves, is charged with murder in the 177th State District Court. A booking photo of Mares-Chaves is attached to this news release. The identity of the deceased woman, also 57, is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences. Houston Police Department (HPD) Homicide Division Detectives S. Chettry and G. Rangel reported that HPD patrol officers responded to a shooting at a residence at the above address and found an unresponsive woman with multiple gunshot wounds lying in the driveway. Houston Fire Department paramedics responded to the scene and pronounced the woman deceased. A male suspect, identified as Mares-Chaves, remained at the scene and told officers he shot his wife after an argument with her. The Harris County District Attorney's Office was contacted, and Mares-Chaves was subsequently charged. Mares-Chaves was then booked into the Harris County Jail.
