San Francisco man shot during attempted carjacking

(OAKLAND, Calif.) Police say a San Francisco man was shot during an attempted carjacking in East Oakland Thursday morning, East Bay Times reports.

The shooting happened at approximately 1:38 a.m. at a Valero gas station located at East 12th Street and 22nd Avenue.

The 32-year-old man was sitting in his car when two men approached and tried to open the vehicle. The man then tried to drive away from the suspects who shot several times at the vehicle, striking him in the arm.

The man was able to escape his attackers and drove himself to a nearby hospital where he was treated for his injuries. He was later released.

Around 3:14 a.m., investigators say that the same suspects carjacked a man at the Jack in the Box located at 2424 International Boulevard, where the suspects allegedly made the man pull his Mercedes sedan over at gunpoint and drove away.

The victim wasn’t harmed during the carjacking and police are still searching the suspects and the stolen vehicle.

Authorities have not released a description of the suspects.
