(SAN FRANCISCO) Police in San Francisco are asking the public's assistance with locating the driver in a fatal hit and run collision.

On Saturday, officers responded to a vehicle collision involving a pedestrian who was struck while crossing the street at Geary and Park Presidio boulevards. Upon arrival, they found an adult male victim suffering from life-threatening injuries, immediately rendered aid and summoned medics.

Despite their efforts, the victim died at the scene.

The driver left the scene and still remains at large. The SFPD Traffic Collision Investigations Unit took over the investigation.

The vehicle is "possibly a dark-colored Mini Cooper convertible," according to a news release. The vehicle should have front-end damage.

Anyone with information related to the incident is asked to call the San Francisco Police Department Traffic Collision Investigations Unit at 415-553-1641. Tips can also be shared anonymously via the SFPD 24-hour-tip line at 415-575-4444, or text TIP411 with "SFPD" to start the message.

This is why ultra-HD video camera surveillance of problem intersections is necessary; video surveillance would be quite useful in identifying the vehicle(s) involved, and determination of fault.
