Police investigate deadly hit-and-run in San Jose

(SAN JOSE, Calif.) Police are searching for the driver and vehicle in a fatal hit-and-run of a pedestrian Wednesday night in San Jose.

The collision occurred around 8:30 p.m. at the intersection of Monterey Road and Curtner Avenue, according to a press release.

A preliminary investigation determined that a woman had been struck by a vehicle while walking westbound across Monterey Highway, police said. The driver fled the scene.

The woman was transported to the hospital, where she died due to her injuries.

No immediate information on the vehicle or driver involved has been released.

This is the city's 15th fatal traffic collision of the year.
