Driver flees after crashing BMW into news van

(OAKLAND, Calif.) A man who allegedly attempted to flee from the scene after crashing his BMW into a news van was arrested by police Saturday night, East Bay Times reports.

The silver BMW crashed into a news van belonging to the KPIX television station at approximately 10:06 p.m. at 14th and Jefferson Streets in the downtown area.

Officers apprehended the suspect a block from the crash after he attempted to run off, police say. The van was being used by a crew from the station at the time of the incident.

The driver of the news van was transported to a nearby hospital. His condition is unknown.
