West Contra Costa schools to open for full-time instruction

(WEST CONTRA COSTA COUNTY, Calif.) West Contra Costa Unified School District will open for full-time in person instruction to begin the 2021-2022 school year.

As reported by The East Bay Times, WCCUSD has been in a hybrid-learning model since April 19 but will hold all student programs in the fall in person. Teachers will now be required to return to school sites rather than remote learning that was organized around "instructional hubs" led by staff.

Families who are uncomfortable with in person instruction can enter K-12 students in the virtual academy offered by the district.

WCCUSD had remained in remote learning for weeks longer than other neighboring districts.

Last month, the district hired Kenneth "Chris" Hurst who will take over as superintendent when the school year ends.
