NACOGDOCHES, Texas ( KETK ) — Texans who purchased or rented generators between July 5 and July 20, due to Hurricane Beryl wiping out power to many counties, may be eligible for assistance under FEMA’s Individual Assistance Program.

WATCH: Beryl leaves damage throughout East Texas

East Texans living in Nacogdoches and Polk counties who purchased or rented generators to power medically required equipment will not have to submit a statement from a medical services provider to be eligible for assistance.

FEMA said those who bought generators must have been purchased due to a disruption in electric utility services due to Beryl and between July 5 and no later than July 20. Applicants will have to provide itemized receipt or equipment rental agreements for eligible expenses.

Expenses must not have been covered by insurance or provided by any other source and to be eligible for assistance, will be limited to “the prevailing retail or rental rate for a 5.5 kw-sized
    generator, as identified by FEMA.”

Other Texas counties eligible for FEMA generator assistance include Brazoria, Chambers, Fort Bend, Galveston, Harris, Jasper, Jackson, Jefferson, Liberty, Orange, Matagorda, Montgomery, San Jacinto, Wharton and Walker.
