It was reported that the UFC light heavyweight title fight between champion Ian Blachowicz and Danbury’s own Glover Teixeira is now rescheduled.

Originally the fight was scheduled for UFC 266 which would have taken place on September 5th. But is now set to take place as the main event for UFC 267 in Dubai on October 30th.

As of this moment, there is no clarification on the reasoning behind the fight being rescheduled but we are all hoping both fighters are ok and healthy.

Going into this matchup Blachowicz who is the current reigning champion is on a big streak in his last 10 fights winning all but one of them.

Blachowicz came into the UFC in 2014 winning his debut with the company against Ilar Latifi by TKO but then proceeded to lose his next 4 of 5 fights with a then-record of 2-4 in the company.

On the brink of getting released from the company, Blachowicz got his sudden second wind and has since become the light heavyweight champion after defeating former title contender Dominick Reyes for the vacant title after the division's former kingpin Jon Jones decided to drop the title and focus on moving to heavyweight, which is still yet to happen.

Glover Teixeira on the other hand is on a 5 fight win streak himself where we saw him finish 4 of those 5 fights.

And in typical Glover fashion, he was the underdog in the majority of those 5 fights and in some moments of those fights was in trouble and got rocked and dazed a few times just to live up to the name that I gave him which is “Danbury’s Rocky” and rally back each time to use his veteran instincts to use parts of all his game to either overwhelm the opponent with his toughness and pressure or overwhelm the opponent on the ground with heavy ground and pound.

Glover started his MMA career way back in 2002 where he lost his first ever professional fight but did not let that change the end goal and he kept building up his record and then came into the UFC in 2012 riding a huge 15 fight win streak before joining the company.

Once he got in the UFC everyone took notice as he won his first 5 fights and 4 of them by stoppage before getting his chance at the light heavyweight champ at the time in Jon Jones in 2014 where we would see Glover lose the bout by a unanimous decision. In the next 9 fights after the title shot Glover lost 4 of the 9 fights and many were unsure of Glover's future as he was getting older.

But the older Glover got the wiser he became in the cage and instead of going into each fight with the usual gameplan of slugging it out he started implementing all of his combat knowledge and is on the incredible 5 fight win streak he is on now proving doubters wrong over and over along the way while being the heavy underdog in almost all of each of those most recent bouts.

It is a pretty funny coincidence that Glover got his first title shot after a 5 fight win streak of which 4 fights he won by a finish and fast forward today he is now again fighting for the title off a 5 fight win streak with 4 of which came by finish.

Hopefully, the MMA gods are on our side this time and history doesn't repeat itself here and Glover can bring little old Danbury Connecticut its first UFC championship along with Danbury's first major sports championship to the City

    Hope you enjoyed the read!
