The Police Chief of Bristol Bay Borough Police Department revealed that the former Discovery Channel star suffered a medical episode.

They did not elaborate on what exactly happened to the reality star and said it was too early in their investigation to say.

However, TMZ reported that Nick’s family was notified of his death.

Nick appeared on the reality TV series Deadliest Catch from 2005 until 2021, making him the longest-running regular cast member.

His boat, FV Northwestern, was the only vessel that appeared on the show for all 20 seasons.

    NICK’S HEALTH ISSUES

Nick left the series due to a health scare involving his appendix, which was documented in one of his last episodes.

The incident led Nick to take legal action against Captain Sig Hansen, 58, claiming he didn’t get adequate outside help during the pandemic.

He alleged that due to not getting medical care right away, his appendix ruptured, which he claimed had a tumor attached that he was not privy to.

Nick was in court against Captain Sig as recently as last year.

Deadliest Catch is a documentary series chronicling the real-life high-sea adventures of the Alaskan crab fishermen – the most deadly profession in the world, as per IMDB .

New episodes air on Tuesdays at 8 pm on the Discovery Channel.

Earlier this week, Captain Sig detailed a terrifying moment at sea that almost cost him and his crew their lives.

“I mean, there’s always a challenge. The challenge is to succeed, right?” Captain Sig told Fox News Digital about the job.

“There are life-threatening situations – been in a few of those. I think the biggest challenge is always the weather. That’s always a big one and keeping your guys motivated, that’s always a big challenge.”

Deadliest Catch has had a long run on the Discovery Channel. Here are some highlights of the show since its debut.

The TV series debuted in 2005, documenting the day jobs of a crew of Alaskan crab fishermen. It has continued its impressive standing for 20 seasons, airing Tuesday evenings on the Discovery Channel.

Its current cast members are Sig Hansen, Johnathan Hillstrand, Jake Anderson, Sophia “Bob” Nielsen, Keith Colburn, Jacob Hutchins, Jack Bunnell, Steve “Harley” Davidson, Rick Shelford, and Wild Bill Wichrowski.

“You know, and finding crab. It’ll happen, it just takes time, but it’ll happen. Especially if you’re good and you know what you’re doing,” he continued.

However, this was hardly the first life-threatening situation that the captain had experienced while on board.

“We’ve had events where the boat was icing down to the point where I thought there was no return,” Captain Sig revealed.

“We’ve had struggles with mechanical issues where, you know, we’ve had, like, tanks where our crab tanks either fill with water when they’re not supposed to, and that creates instability on the boat. Things of that nature.”

“There’s been many challenges and there were challenges where I’ve seen boats literally go down. You know, eight miles away from me, and there’s nothing I can do about it,” he shared.

“You watch people and friends that you know, and you’re literally in the fog. They’re right over there and there’s nothing I can do about it, and they’re gone. I think that’s a godd–n challenge,” Captain Sig concluded.
