Helen Ruth Cadd

April 3, 1928 - June 9, 2024 - Helen Ruth Cadd was born in Nampa, Idaho and grew up in a Christian home full of family, friends, fun, and love. Helen’s life was full of music from when she learned to play the piano and trumpet as a child, to majoring in music at Pacific College (now George Fox University), and to marrying Dick Cadd, a member of the Four Flats Quartet.

Helen and Dick, with their five children, moved to the Philippines in 1962 to become missionaries. Dick taught music at Faith Academy for 17 years with Helen always accompanying on the piano. Over the next 35 years they worked together in many music ministries and creative endeavors from taking their elite school choir on overseas tours to producing a weekly television show. In 1965, Helen’s dream of performing on the trumpet with a military band came true when she was a guest soloist with the Philippine Armed Forces Band before an audience of over 5000 people.

After Dick passed away in 2005, Helen volunteered serving meals at a local community kitchen, only giving it up regretfully at the age of 92. She wrote two books about her life with Dick and personal lessons learned through “Inconvenient Adventures.” At 93, her growing blindness and hearing difficulties didn’t stop her from starting a TikTok page posting videos telling stories of her Christian faith and life’s adventures.

Helen loved everyone unconditionally and was known for her generosity. But her greatest love was Jesus and her deepest desire was to share God’s love.

Helen is survived by her sister, Edith Campbell, children and spouses Carolyn and Ron Brannon, Jon and Cher, Steve and Mayen, and LuAnne Cadd (Yvonne Everly passed in 2009); 13 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
