With a growing populace and economy, Canyon County is home to several industries in need of workers.

To that end, the Idaho Department of Labor is holding a job fair to connect employers with candidates for open positions this Thursday, July 18.

According to the department, economic growth has increased post-pandemic in the county with about 50% more businesses and 20% more available jobs. Labor Economist Jan Roeser stated that the county’s average wage grew by 30% compared to inflation at 19%.

“Prospects are encouraging for the area that continues to see housing developments and home values increase in step with its job market,” Roeser said.

The job fair will be held from noon to 4 p.m. on July 18 at the Nampa Public Library, 215 12th Avenue South.

Among the employers seeking to fill positions at the event are scheduled to be the City of Nampa, United States Bakery (Franz), Idaho Department of Health and Welfare, Ada County Sheriff’s Office, Amazon, Moonlight Mountain Recovery and more. Jobseekers can apply for positions such as animal control officers, registered nurses, shipping checkers, airport maintenance technicians, ice rink technicians, law enforcement records specialists, cashiers, senior accountants, mechanical insulators and others, IDOL stated in a release.

Employment resources and community partners such as the Idaho Commission for the Blind and Visually Impaired, Equus Workforce Solutions, the Idaho Division of Vocational Rehabilitation and others will be in attendance. Other resources such as interview tips can be found on the IDOL website at labor.idaho.gov/publications and a search under “Job Seeker Publications,” the department stated.

Those with disabilities or needing reasonable accommodation to attend the job fair can email traci.petitt@labor.idaho.gov or call 208-696-5483. Deaf or hard-of-hearing persons can dial 711 for the Idaho Relay Service.
