UPDATE: According to a press release from the Nampa Police Department, police have identified 33-year-old Jordan Lee Davis of Meridian as a suspect and taken him into custody.

Police say they were dispatched to look for a stolen vehicle on I-84 between Franklin Road and Northside Blvd.
According to police, when officers attempted to stop the vehicle, the driver failed to yield.
The release goes on to say that officers were eventually able to perform a successful "pursuit intervention technique."

Police say the suspect refused to exit the vehicle and appeared to be armed, leading to a 20-minute standoff that was ended after police deployed tear gas in the car.

Police say the suspect was transported to the Nampa Police Department for an interview, but upon arrival, told officers he had ingested illegal narcotics when he was in the vehicle. EMS units were dispatched to the police station to transport and admit the man to a local area hospital.

    The investigation is ongoing.

The roadway along Garrity Blvd was blocked near the I-84 on-ramp after police responded to a stolen vehicle report just after noon on Wednesday, July 31.

Multiple police vehicles could be seen from the highway as they directed traffic while the situation unfolded.

Carmen Boeger with the Nampa Police Department told Idaho News 6 that the incident on Garrity was the result of a stolen vehicle that failed to stop.

The rear window of the stopped vehicle appears to be shattered in footage from the scene.

Further details of the incident, including the status of the driver, have not been released at this time.
